Privacy Policy

The Russian version is legally binding; this is a translation.

In short

  • We collect the minimum: only what the messenger needs to work.
  • No ads, no trackers, and no third-party analytics.
  • We do not sell your data or share it for marketing.

1. Who processes the data

The Min service (website minchatapp.com, the web app, and desktop and mobile apps) — the “Service”. The personal data controller is the Service owner. Contact: support@minchatapp.com.

2. What data we collect

Account data

Name, email address, password (stored only as an irreversible hash), and avatar. If you sign in with Google — your Google account ID, name, email, and profile photo URL.

Message contents

Message text, attachments (photos, videos, files, voice messages), reactions and edits, chat, group, and channel membership, and read receipts.

Technical data

IP address at registration, sign-in, and when sending messages; browser or app type (User-Agent); time of last sign-in and last activity; sign-in attempt history (including failed attempts).

Notifications

If you allow push notifications — a browser subscription ID or device token. It is used only to deliver notifications and is removed when you disable notifications or sign out.

Calls

We store call metadata: who called whom, when, and how long it lasted. The audio and video stream itself is sent between participants through a media server and is not recorded.

3. Why we need this data

  • So you can sign in and send messages.
  • To deliver messages, files, and notifications.
  • To protect accounts: rate-limit password guessing and detect spam and abuse.
  • To send service emails — email confirmation, password reset and change.
  • To find and fix problems with the Service.

We do not use the contents of your chats for advertising, profiling, or model training.

4. Cookies and local storage

We only use technically necessary browser data: an auth token (so you do not have to enter your password every time), your chosen theme, message drafts, and interface settings. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

5. Who we share data with

Only services we cannot operate without, and only to the extent needed:

  • Google — if you choose to sign in with a Google account.
  • Email delivery service — receives your email address and the service email text.
  • Browser push services and Firebase Cloud Messaging — receive the notification text and device ID to deliver it to you.
  • Hosting provider — the Service and database run on their servers.

We may disclose data in response to a reasoned request from competent authorities when required by law. In all other cases we do not share or sell data.

6. Links and video download

When you send a link, the Service fetches that site to show a preview — title, description, and image. Your IP address is not sent to the external site. The same applies to download-video-from-link: the server makes the request to the external resource.

7. How long we keep data

  • Messages and attachments — until you or other chat members delete them.
  • Account data — for as long as the account exists.
  • Sign-in logs and technical logs — for a limited time needed for security and diagnostics.

A deleted message disappears for every chat member. Note: a contact may have already saved it or taken a screenshot — that is outside our control.

8. Your rights

You can at any time:

  • Change your name, avatar, and password in profile settings.
  • Delete your messages and leave chats.
  • Disable push notifications.
  • Delete your account yourself — in the app settings or on the account deletion page. You do not need our permission.
  • Request a copy of your data — email support@minchatapp.com.

Deletion is immediate: your profile, all your messages, attachments, direct chats, push subscriptions, and sign-in log are permanently erased from the server. Full list — on the account deletion page.

9. Security

The connection to the Service is protected with HTTPS, passwords are stored as hashes, sign-in attempts are rate-limited, and chat access is checked on the server for every request.

To be honest: Min does not yet have end-to-end encryption. Messages are encrypted in transit but stored in plaintext on the server. Do not send data through the Service if a leak would be critical for you.

10. Children

The Service is not intended for children under 13. If you learn that a child registered without parental consent, write to us — we will delete the account.

11. Policy changes

We may update this page. The date of the last change is at the top. We will announce material changes inside the Service or by email.

12. Contacts
